Hope this gets through, ass having internet issues.
It's ok, I'm not in the UK at the moment thankfully, but the cold weather does affect my house that I monitor remotely externally & internally on some Ring cameras, a small leak issue has re-arisen to sort on my return in February, my neighbour is keeping an eye on the externals, and I'm in somewhere nice & warm all year round near where Rinpoche died, and staying with my partner; we visited the Temple in October where his ashes were taken.

Yes, I liked YNP secondly out of the 4 root practices completed, RD was my most liked & intense, but have to admit my formal practice has attenuated somewhat since Rinpoche's death & my Father's death 12 days earlier (sorting the probate & sale of family houses was a massive set of tasks taking years!) and now mainly follow monthly Dzogchen group meetings on-line now with London as there are too few of us in Manchester to run these days, now I do mainly ad hoc 'NoM' resting, mantra meditation and of course consider the difficult 8 worldly concerns and mindfulness. I was hoping for many years one day to do a nyenpa of Dukngal Rangdrol; but I doubt it'll happen.

Much has changed for me recently, I retired as a Physicist working 45 years in Engineering a few months ago.

(By the way as an unbiased / unpaid Physicist who has investigated 'ClimateChange' for over 25 years since running Climate Models (IPCC said 111 of their 114 models overstate warming), along with local & worldwide fellow scientists & engineers, I now know what the MSM tell everyone to be a total exaggeration, of even what the IPCC are stating (I was an official reviewer for a IPCC paper, but their bias towards CO2 as a main Surface warming cause, coincident with Earth exiting the last Ice Age is likely misdirected but essential for continual grant purposes) & to the detriment of us all especially in the UK; this will surely reverse before too much damage is done to our infrastructure. I've written a pamphlet about it, but needs far more work to simplify for public, many reviews have been positive.
I'm a signatory to Clintel which you can see on-line at https://clintel.org, but realise many in Rigpa, not all I must add, disagree with my honest views, and a few have been a little confrontational towards me on this sadly (some associated with the misguided 'JustStopOil' group, the Dalai Lama & others of high dharma status supporting this group is a misunderstanding of the whole picture unfortunately); note any prayers about 'Climate', although I know well intentioned, don't understand how our deluxe reality is based on yes, FossilFuels (FF's), the COG's of Modern Civilisation. I know this might be opposite to some Rinpoche's & some other teachers comments, but I go for engineering & science reality. A slight increase in Surface Average Temperatures(a concept not agreed by all) is a good trade off for the versatility & deluxe living afforded by FF's. Some estimates show that some renewables in the UK may not even 'pay-back' the energy used to create them when all FF supply chains are taken into account!

The debunked 'Consensus' , dogma not science, is used in lieu of empirical unaltered data (i.e. evidence not tampered with for adjustments), it’s is a way to avoid debate by claiming that the matter is already so-called ‘settled’, to push the marching army of scientists who need grants & therefore salaries. Trouble is now this Labour Gov't are pursuing a worse than Tory crazy 'Net Zero' agenda for ideological reasons only, they are seemingly advised by arts graduates who have no true science & engineering knowledge or real-life experience! The first 16 scientists of 46 that have left the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) due to the corruption of science within the organisation are quite damning of them.
Hence massive we now have Electricity costs from subsidising these part-time machines (soon to be shifted into general taxation to hide the real costs!).
A useful knowledge base to to check of our arguments from Logical Fallacies e.g.:https://status.net/articles/examples-of-common-logical-fallacies. A common one Alarmist use is Ad Hominem of 'Denier' which is nonsense.

Without FossilFuels, the very COG's of ModernCivilisation(s) viz., Coal,Oil&Gas, so called & intermittent 'Renewables' (yes the Sun & Wind are of course renewable, but not the Rube Goldberg Weather Dependent Intermittent Weak Energy Extraction Machines) cannot exist! Efficiencies within the UK are 35% for Wind & for Solar 10% (Note natural Gas is 87%), so you need the existing Energy generation stations to baseload & balance them, which are being gradually trashed & not sensibly replaced!
Battery Back-Up won't provide much coverage. There is a strong possibility of black-outs & rationing in the UK if we get cold windless snaps - what lunacy!

Often I see Wind at <5GW of a 20GW capacity & Solar at <3GW of 15GW capacity; so we have to import up to 25% French Nuclear amongst other countries. We're already in trouble with the ideology and a Gas Plant typically needs 8 years to be built!

These FF's are required to Mine all the Materials (getting harder to extract by the way & creates a large environmental mess), Muster, Design, All Supply Chain activities, Land Clearance, Construction, Support, Repair, Spare & Decommission them for a mere 10-20y lifespan, they have their place of course, but to power National Grids is risky, fortunately backed up by Baseload Nuclear Fission plants & balanced with old Natural Gas plants, we may expect more Iberian type blackouts, mainly due to low inertia designs, of which the UK was very close to yet again of this month. Dispatchable National Grids are ~ 22% of human energy use, the remaining ~78% mainly Air, Land & Sea transportation via portable Petrol, Kerosene, Diesel) & space heating. Grid Renewables are NOT cheaper it's a trick by ignoring key elements.
The Elephant in the room for me is that FF's may well be depleted within worst case 50 years to 150 years, but fortunately more reserves are continually found, but humans waste so much in wars, 'renewables', duplication of component parts, Similar Production Lines,. School-runs etc.; there are no replacements of these base energies! So yes humans may well be back to plateaus, forests, caves & nomadic lifestyles in a few centuries). Iberian Black Outs caused by 1 solar inverter resulted in 11 deaths in summer, estimates put that if it it occurred in the a winter UK to thousands, there's far more to this than the few paragraphs above, but you'll get my drift hopefully.

Apart from health issues that deplete my energy from Long Term Type 2 Diabetes (2 of my 4 siblings have been suffering badly & gone on to be totally Insulin dependent recently), and also apart from my own home maintenance/problems I was/am very busy with family commitments of my children, assisting with organising major home repairs/improvements for them (now remotely) in advance of mine & my first grand daughter will be arriving into the world around Easter time.
Time here in Thailand is helping my recouperation of health, (but it took me a week to get over the lengthy travel!) 45 years intense working life & my partner looks after me very well; although she was struck herself by some food poisoning & fortunately fully recovered without needing hospitalisation, that was a possibility.

We have visited many temples from Chiang Rai & Chiang Mai to Bangkok recently and I've spoken with quite a lot of monks & people, but as my younger (& Vajra) brother and I see that Buddhadharma here has seemingly at our 'lower view' has descended into Tourism, Idol worship & requests for monk Blessings for Wealth, Health, Fortunes for immediate families, for most, and little talk of dharma sadly; but of course that good basis can help lead to practice, so similar to Tibetan ordinary folk in a way doing mani-mantras during circumambulation.

The 2 of us younger brothers & our partners met up in Bangkok last week, before they went on to Ko Phangan, meeting for the first time since pre-Covid when I started dealing with Dad's house & we met his wife also for the first time here at a local hotel.

They run retreats/seminars based on Osho teachings & Chakra mediations etc. for income & lifestyle, sometimes even still in Ukraine (they were based in kHarkiv 30km from Russian border), no longer Russia sadly of course (but help both the Ukrainian & Russian diaspora), Türkiye, Thailand, HK, China etc. and other countries in Asia. My other 3 siblings & Uncle have had some connections with Tibet Buddhism, but no longer.

Amongst the many Temples visited, there was one picture of Guru Rinpoche amazingly to see yesterday, high up at 'Wat Phra That Doi Suthep' in Chiang Mai; very much reminding me of the similar at Kagyu Ling in the 70's (btw I met up with my previous 6 Vajra siblings when the 17d Karmapa visited Manchester last year, I've not seen the 17b Karmapa yet, but did attend the 16th visit in Manchester in 1977).
